I had already decided to install the unit under the seat. Looking around, there are two obvious places for it... Except that the toolkit goes in one of them, so under the pillion seat it goes:

Test Fitting the Autocom

It fits nicely in there, with enough room around it to route the various wires and cables. I was forced to cover the sticker listing maximum weight capacity and such, but I never read that anyway.

I'm honestly not completely thrilled with the right-angle attachments for the phone and music wires, they don't get along well with each other, unless you're willing to add to the installed height of the unit a bit.

I also ran the main communication wires along the subframe rails at this time, trying to find a route that would simultaneously stay out of the way of the seat when installed, accept the massive weather-resistant Autocom connectors along the path, and sit in a convenient spot for use.

Aside from the passenger's connector sticking out the right side, this image has what is pretty much the final run for the headset cables.

So I got out an alcohol wipe or two and prepped the area.

A clean alcohol wipe.

It gets kinda dirty in there...

A dirty alcohol wipe.
