I guess we're just about ready to wrap things up here. I added a few more zip ties to keep the headset cables under control. I didn't take any pictures of this part, but I ran the leads for the cell phone and mp3 player up under the faux fuel tank top and out the left front of it (easy reach to the tank bag or a perhaps a future handlebar bracket). I put the seat back on the bike, carefully, and I was basically finished.
Autocom includes a couple of stick-on clips to hold the headset leads when they're not being used. So far I haven't used 'em. My lead sticks out from the front of my seat and is pretty well under control just sticking the end into the tank bag.
The pillion lead comes out from under the left side of the seat and hangs down...
But that's no problem, there's actually enough room just under the edge of the seat to tuck it in very securely. I was very pleasantly surprised by this. The contrast is a bit low, but you can sort of see the wire coming from the lower-left leading to the plug. As long as nobody is sitting on the seat, you can easily pull out the plug for use.
And that's it. Conversation is easy, listening to music on the road is kind of cool, and being able to remain in touch via cell phone could just be a big help one day.
I reattached everything, locked it up, and took it for a shakedown ride.
See you on the road!
